I work with animals as my career, so it’s only natural to include them in my family as well! I was born into a house with pets and I’ve never been without them since. I’ve been fortunate enough to have quite a few pets throughout my life, though some of them have sadly moved on to the rainbow bridge. I currently have a dog, a lizard, and two fish tanks! I sometimes have a few moths around as well.
Taylor
Taylor is the fuzziest companion that I have right now. I’ve never known another dog with as much love to give as this little marshmallow! She has some gastrointestinal struggles that we’ve had to navigate, but she’s healthy as a horse beyond that. She’s incredibly energetic and intelligent. Since we can’t give her many treats without upsetting her tummy we make sure to spoil her with LOTS of toys. She loves to learn, so I hope to really ramp up the training I do with her. My ultimate dream is to do agility competitions with her.
There can be no strength without weakness, and Taylor’s weakness is that her undying loyalty means that every man, woman, child, leaf, gust of wind, and stray stick is perceived as a threat to the family. When a threat is detected, Taylor unleashes the banshee war cry of her people…we love her anyways.
Kora
My lifetime dream of owning a reptile came true on June 18, 2017. That’s the day I got Kora from a friend who needed to rehome him on short notice! Starting out with a rescue has been an interesting experience. We’ve had to work through health problems on his part and mental health related care inconsistency on mine. We’ve been able to pull through everything and this little sausage continues being one of the brightest lights in my life. He’s my baby, the absolute love of my life.
Fish (Plural)
I currently have two fish tanks (a 20gal and a 5gal) filled with a variety of fish and plants. Right now I have a betta, amano shrimp, neon tetras, oto cats, panda garras, and mystery snails. I’ve had a lot of success with my aquariums so far despite being a beginner, and I’m very passionate about fish welfare and husbandry!
